How are Neuro and Neurochild Connected?

The Neurochild team has developed into the Neuro team, with Neurochild being one of our key global projects. Neurochild slowly grew beyond the bounds of child-focused ways to help the world create healthy brains through our love of neuroscience, neuroethics, systems theory, and values-based community. It burgeoned into something that transcended the love and concern we all felt for our own children and those in our communities, and in doing so tapped into an endless well of love, support, hope and progress for the best of the human condition. From the spark of Neurochild grew a wild and free Village of over 20,000 like-minded people, and a team of 50 diverse and passionate staff from over 20 different countries and backgrounds – the beginnings of a whole Neuro movement dedicated to something better for all of us.

By harnessing our team’s dedication to tomorrow’s generations, the Neuro team has built community technologies that “walk the talk” with clear-cut and transparent data goals that serve specific and humanity-inspired purposes – to work towards improving healthy brains, nurtured selves, robust families, thriving communities, fair organisations, prosperous regions, and a flourishing humanity.

Neurochild came together because none of us wanted our children and the children within our communities to encounter the predominant online internet interaction model. We wanted something kinder, something scientifically validated, something that builds towards a better, balanced and more connected tomorrow – both inside our brains and for the planet. And so although today Neuro has grown into an entire social network, a knowledge ecosystem and a ground-breaking ethical technology, it’s all thanks to the flame that first started within the Neurochild team.

Introducing Neuro

Neuro is an innovative, neuroscience-informed social platform that improves neural literacy, helps people interact with information, and mobilises knowledge. We are currently in development and will be launching soon.

Our ecosystem has been developed by our volunteer Brain Trust, currently spanning over 20 countries, with the intention of giving our families and loved ones new options for learning and functioning. Neuro’s platform is the ongoing result of community consultations with the parents, neuroscientists, ethicists, therapists, elders, artists, scientists, technologists, writers, educators, and citizens on our team —all of whom are passionate about a better way for our brains to function online.

Neuro functions as a social media network, knowledge mobilisation platform, and user-generated content marketplace, all designed with neuroscience in mind. We have seen that world change starts in the synapse then filters out through our families, communities, work places, and the many living systems that we are all parts of.

As a socio-technical system, Neuro aims to maintain:

🧠 Healthy brains
🧘‍♀️ Nurtured selves
👪 Robust families
💬 Thriving communities
🏢 Fair organisations
🌄 Prosperous regions, and
🌏 A Flourishing humanity.

Today, data are indivisible from our online interactions. They are the quiet mirror world that represent each of us in technological spaces, often categorising us unfairly or by factors we would not use to define ourselves. Neuro’s data model is different. Participants in our communities are more valuable than the data they provide, so we have built our ecosystem from the core outwards to have data work for you, helping to build your knowledge, facilitate meaningful interaction, and nurture deep understanding. We let our community choose their own data, with a primary focus on how you best approach, interact with, and understand knowledge. We know that every brain is unique, and the way we view the world affects the state of our everyday personal experiences.

Neuro provides places for you to engage in sharing, learning or friendly discussion with people the same or different from yourself. We have created our technologies to nurture growing brains, digital well-being, positive social interactions, open-mindedness, and mobilisation of knowledge that meets you where you’re at.

We are for anyone who agrees with our 7 ecosystem values:

🤍 Transparency:
Open movement of knowledge and its contexts, embedded with feedback capacity and support for all literacies

🤍 Empowerment:
Removal from power dynamics, poverty and coercion in ways that reduce stress and encourage neuroplasticity

🤍 Positive Social Support:
Supporting social interactions that form well-regulated brain-body interactions and body-society interactions, as per the biological premises of the evolved nest – the ideal nest for young children that humans inherited from our ancestors

🤍 Diversity:
Cognitive awareness of human biases enacted with curious and kind acceptance of human difference

🤍 Collective Individualism:
Commitment to actions and frameworks where the benefit of the whole gives benefit to its parts and vice versa

🤍 Sustainability:
Encouraging, integrating and replicating the social balance in harmonious systems to enable thriving in perpetuity

🤍 Compassion:
Facing a direction of benevolence, kindness and generosity in the superhuman order, where intention is innate in its emerging result

The 23 neurolens themes of our ecosystem are more than just areas that our ecosystem members can navigate to find the type of information they need. They are also 23 different lenses through which a diversity of people see and interact with the world. We have designed the Neuro platform, and its data model, to be supportive of the following 23 areas:

🔍 Ancestors
🔍 Biological Life
🔍 Child
🔍 Empathy
🔍 Engineering
🔍 Frameworks
🔍 Kindness
🔍 Language
🔍 Learning
🔍 Living Systems
🔍 Logic
🔍 Music
🔍 Mystic
🔍 Nature
🔍 Physicality
🔍 Play
🔍 Purpose
🔍 Sensory
🔍 Social Connection
🔍 Stories
🔍 Teaching
🔍 Technology
🔍 Work Ethic

Each of our neurolenses also has the capability to be filled out into a decentralised community, helping members of that neurolens to advocate for themselves, connect with each other, or earn livings together. We encourage our members to embrace their individual differences and make the most of their unique worldviews.

Neurochild is the distributed community behind our Child neurolens, and they guide the community Facebook group, Neurochild Village. Once our Neuro platform is live, we look forward to hosting many other like-minded communities who are interested in brains and how they affect the world and people around us.

We believe that ethical technologies have the capability to help align collective values, while still supporting context and individual difference. This all starts from inside the community, solving our most obvious problems together and advocating for ourselves.

We hope you join us on this exciting journey, looking inside and outside for all the things that really matter. Think about it.
